Business Summit for Early Learning

Karen Mason
Executive Director
Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children, (Idaho AEYC)

Karen was born and raised in southeast Idaho. Her first job after college was ranch hand. Since then, she has worked 30 years with families and children in Idaho, in residential treatment for adolescents, mental health, and school social work settings. Her experience in Alaska included child protection, and program administration including a parent support and a crisis respite nursery.

Most recently she has served as director of the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children, working to support professional development for early care and education providers and teachers. Advocacy for policy change around minimum standards for Day Care Licensing, measuring the quality of child care settings, and collaboration to increase quality learning opportunities for young children are specific areas of effort.
