Every child comes to child care with all types of special needs. For IdahoSTARS purposes, “special needs” is defined as a disability or special health care need that requires extra support in order for the child to be included and successful in a child care setting. This may include any chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition requiring ongoing treatment or services that are not typically required by the general population of children documented by an I.E.P., I.F.S.P., or a letter from the attending doctor or health professional.
